MY HOBBIES

Travel

IMG_9127_edited.jpg

Love to travel. Been to many countries. Love to learn about the culture—for example, I spent a month in Japan exploring traditional tea ceremonies and learning basic Japanese phrases to connect with locals.in Yunnan, China, where I visited ancient towns like Lijiang and Dali, explored the stunning rice terraces of Yuanyang, and learned about the traditions of the Bai and Naxi ethnic minorities.

Piano

Over time, piano became more than just a hobby—it became a form of expression for me. I started to explore different genres, from classical to jazz and contemporary pieces, and even tried composing short melodies of my own. Performing in competitions and recitals helped me overcome stage fright and taught me how to connect with an audience emotionally through music. There were times I felt stuck or unmotivated, but I always reminded myself of how far I’d come since that very first beginner class. Now, playing piano is one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. It’s not just about playing the right notes—it’s about telling a story and sharing a piece of myself with others.

Snowboard

I started snowboarding when I was 18. I’ll drive to the mountains to snowboard during winter or when I'm not riding horses. At first, I took lessons with a coach to get the basics down—learning how to carve, balance, and control my speed. It was challenging, but I loved the adrenaline and the peacefulness of being on the slopes. Over time, I improved a lot. Now, I’m confident enough to teach my younger brother. Snowboarding has become more than just a sport for me—it’s a way to challenge myself, disconnect from stress, and spend time with the people I care about.

Badminton

I started playing badminton in 2nd grade and eventually became the varsity team captain in high school. As captain, I led our team to the final tournament of the PSAA (Private School Athletic Association). It was one of the most memorable moments of my high school years—we trained hard, supported each other, and grew as a team. I learned a lot about leadership, communication, and how to stay composed under pressure. Whether it was strategizing for doubles matches or motivating my teammates during tough games, I loved being someone my team could count on. Badminton taught me not just athletic skills, but also how to bring people together and push toward a common goal.
